Rio Grande Urology

Today was my first visit. I appreciated the Dr. he was knowledgeable and had a very good bed side manner. He educated me on new procedure and reassured me that there was treatment for my condition. I am hopeful that he can help me. Excited to start treatment.

Dr. Herrera is a professional, outstanding surgeon. He is upfront and easy to talk to as he actually listens to his patients. He gives you all the information, pros and cons and doesnt pressure you. His staff in El Paso is caring, friendly and very helpful. This office is run efficiently with little wait time unlike most of the other doctors offices where you have to wait hours for your appointment. I highly recommend him.

Dr Taber is great. Very professional, attentive and takes the time to listens to you. He answers all of your questions and addresses any concerns you have, he’s not rushed. Tests, procedures and medications are timely prescribed as indicated. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a urologist.

From the time I called to make the appointment to the time I actually met with the doctor, customer service was outstanding. Everyone along the way was courteous and helpful and friendly. The doctor Listened and explained thoroughly what to expect throughout the process. I was very happy with the overall services provided, and I will continue to.use this provider.

From check in with Daniella, Robert for vitals, to Jennifer taking me to room to prepare me for Dr Herrera they were friendly , professional , time for wait was minimal, They are Great . Wow! I have never experienced such friendly, quick, professional processing as a new patient before! It’s unheard of to be in-and-out of a specialist’s office in one hour. Nothing was skipped, and Dr. Bagg’s bedside manner is cool, calm and trustworthy. From the smile I received as I stepped in to reception, to registration, to the techs, and the exam & treatment. I am very impressed. I even told the clerk as i was leaving “You should be voted The Best of the Best.”

Professional employees greet and attend you as you enter building. Everyone that goes into this establishment is attended equally. Medical professionals are very looking forward to attend to their patients. Really recommend this place to those whom are seeking this type of medical attention

From the reception person who was very rude this was the worst patient experience I’ve ever had.Dr. Bagg is very knowledgeable and knows what treatment or tests to schedule.The rest of the staff needs to learn why they are there, take care of the patient. This seems to be lost on them. A little common courtesy and kindness goes a long way towards helping the patients feel comfortable.The person that schedules the procedures committed to contact me when my next test was set for and of course he never has, after 5 days.

A Frustrating and Dangerous Experience with RGU.I am writing this review to share my deeply disappointing experience with Lauren Eisenberg, and her NP, regarding the substandard care received as a female patient and the systemic issues within this practice. My experience, along with the experiences of a close friend and another family member, raises serious concerns about the competence and professionalism of these providers.1. Failure to Address Kidney StonesDespite multiple ER visits and CT scans confirming a 15mm kidney stone for months, and other stones in both kidneys, this urologist failed to address the large stone treatment and when a ureteroscopy with lithotripsy was finally performed, only two small renal stones were lasered. 3 days later, post-op, I had to visit the ER for excessive bleeding and blood clots, where a CT scan confirmed the 15mm stone remained along with others untreated in the same kidney, despite her surgical notations that no other stones remained. Also, no advisement on the result of the lithotripsy. When I asked her NP a month later on the findings of the procedure, I was dismissed with a short reply that Id be informed later. 3 months later with no response, left me requesting medical records to finally understand the findings of the lithotripsy procedure.This lack of thoroughness is completely unacceptable for a complex condition as mine, particularly the 15mm stone amongst others, still posing significant risks to my kidneys. It is most unfortunate and absolutely clear that my care was not prioritized or handled competently.2. Dishonest and Unprofessional Front Desk StaffThe front desk staff routinely gatekept access to the urologist and provided false information. For example:- During my most recent visit, I observed the person before me had signed in to see Eisenberg while I was simultaneously informed via text message that her NP had just canceled 30 minutes prior to my appt., due to personal reasons.- When I asked the front desk staff if my urologist or another doctor could see me for a ER follow up, I was told my urologist was not in, despite evidence in writing to the contrary.- Over 8 months of appointments, I only saw Eisenberg twice; initially and pre-op. When Id call to request an appointment with her, I was told every time she wouldnt be available for months and Id be routed to her nurse practitioner (NP).3. Subpar Care from NPThe NP provided care that was alarmingly inadequate:- She did not know that hydroxyapatite stones are composed of calcium—basic knowledge for anyone treating kidney stones.- My urine sample was collected at RGU (then routed to a lab for culturing), its findings were an E.Coli bacteria UTI. The NP insisted on a nephrotoxic antibiotic but when I advocated against, due to my kidney history, she delayed prescribing a safer alternative, which caused me to visit the ER 4 days later due to intense lower back pain (kidney stones). Fortunately, it was confirmed via the ER urine sample/ culture, that I had no UTI whatsoever, and yet this NP wanted to inject me with a nephrotoxic antibiotic! To add insult to injury, shed already created a Nitrofurantoin antibiotic resistance as she kept prescribing it. Who knows how many times antibiotics were ordered with no cause, as I didnt doublecheck what shed tell me until much later. Why would I doubt a medical professional whos there to help me, right?- The NP incorrectly claimed that no urologist would ever prescribe an antibiotic a patient is allergic to, despite Eisenberg having done exactly that after the lithotripsy, perhaps causing serious side effects as I visited the ER, 3 days post-op.4. Lab Errors and MismanagementOn two occasions, my urine samples were contaminated, delaying a necessary surgical procedure and resulting in unnecessary antibiotic prescriptions for nonexistent infections. Theres proof of the mishandling when my urine was collected elsewhere soon after.So, for anyone considering RGU, please seek care elsewhere as I did, under a highly skilled team out of town.

The atmosphere was pleasant and clean, the receptionist was courteous and efficient, explained office rules and procedures and answered all our questions.

First time there. It was a little bit to be seen. However once the doctor came in, he was pleasant and very thorough. I appreciate a dr that actually listens and then decides what course of action to take. Thank you!!!Had another visit today 22 of Aug. These doctors are very thorough. Dr Olivares had me get a CT of upper body and included digestive track. Within 1 week results were given and diagnosed. What a great bedside manner too. Will recommend them as well as return if needed!!! ❤️

I went to Rio Grande Urology today, for the first visit. I saw Dr. Eisenberg and 4 of her staff. They all were wonderful. I felt welcome and cared about throughout the entire visit. I highly recommend them.

Dr Herrera and I met in the ER at Providence’s hospital. I was lucky to have him. He was so awesome and treated me great! He answered all my questions. He did surgery and checked several times on me. I went to his office a few days later. The office is busy but the staff was so great. Very helpful and friendly. They were professional and friendly. So if you are looking for a smart urologist who you can trust and talk to please call the office. The staff will work with you on any issues or concerns. I am very grateful to everyone that was able to take care of my issue. Thank you again for all your help and support!

It was easy to schedule an appointment. I received a call prior to appointment to confirm and was given items needed at appointment. On appointment date I was greeted very friendly signed in and given paperwork to fill out. My appt. was for 9:40 am and within 10 minutes I was seeing the doctor. Very effiecent and excellent on time. Highly recommend!

Fastest clinic in the west. Too bad they aren’t on UHC network. Oh well, money well spent. All appts I’ve had here, I was in-out in under 30 minutes. Dr Eisenberg was caring and very thorough as were her NP’s. HIGHLY recommend.

I was in and out of there in 10 minutes!!! I waited longer for my ubers than to get mt CT scan. And they saw me as soon as I got there before my appointment. Very nice staff also.

Dr. Herrera first treated me At Transmountain Providence….. he was extremely caring and knowledgeable. He wasn’t on my insurance and proceeded to help me find a urologist who was. Problems ensued, but his office staff was incredible. Special thanks to Valerie in scheduling, who was so supportive and helpful…was never able to find a Dr that was as concerned about my condition, or office staff that were willing to go above and beyond. So, even with the cost, I stayed with Rio Grande Urology. Best decision I made for my health. Highly recommend RGU….thank you to all! You are greatly appreciated!

I usually see a Dr. in the Las Cruces office and had, had 2 kidney surgeries and needed another. My Dr. had to go on maternity leave and recommend Dr Herrera to do my 3rd surgery. She talked to both of us and we were in agreement.On our way to the office in El Paso, we got stuck in traffic for 11/2hrs. Obviously I was not going to make my appointment time. I called the office and they told me to come on in anyway. I was shocked but greatful because we had to drive 3 hrs to get there.I was prepared to wait for awhile, but they got me right in.Dr Herrera was very nice and explained how this surgery was going to be done. Very detailed and explained in plain English. Made sure I was comfortable and had no questions before letting me leave.I am so thankful for my Drs referral to this office and doctor.

I very much liked the staff at both Rio Grande Urology locations. They were friendly and professional at all times. Dr. Mendel took the time to explain my diagnosis and treatment to me. I checked in, as at any other dr. office. I was called for my vitals within 15 minutes, and was checked by my doctor within 30 minutes of checking in. The whole process was fast and comfortable.

Hello,My hubby and I have been coming to RGU East, since 2017, when he was first diagnosed w/ prostate cancer, the staff has always been great to us, very friendly, even when they have staff changes, still very friendly.I went in there today for a Ct scan, very efficient and quick, didn’t even have to wait to long to be seen, great service!

It went well. Not much waiting, helpful staff,. Doctor answered questions and made plan without extra chat. Good visit.

From the time the appointment was made all good. To call to remind me about the appointment ,that was nice. To call me a day before To ask me if I could come at an earlier time ..no problem I said. I came to the appointment a half hour before the appointment and they were ready in 5 minutes..from the reception to the Dr. In and out in less than 30 minutes. All 10 s to all.

I’ve been going to RGU for a few years. The office staff always greets you with a warm smile and quickly get you checked in and ready for your appointment with the doctor. The office is conveniently located on the West or East sides of the city which makes it very easy for me to get to my appointment. My doctor is 100% excellent, compassionate and has a sense of humor. I put my trust in RGU 100%.

At 82, my aunt does not like going to the doctor anymore. She loved Dr. Spier and the staff as well. Her appointment was at 11:00 and that is the time we were called in at and we were out before noon. Efficientcy and promptness matters greatly at her age. Thanks to everyone who was so kind and patient with her as she struggles to get around and it takes a good while.

The scheduling and billing department here absolutely ruins the practice.I had surgery scheduled two months in advance, I received texts in the days preceding my surgery, I called the morning of to confirm and review the preparation I went through to make sure I didn’t miss anything.When I showed up, they said “it looks like we need to reschedule, the Dr. is out of town.”I thin if you do end up seeing a doctor here, you will get good care. But there is no way to tell if you’re going to be seen, as you can confirm your appointment by text, you can confirm by phone the same day, and show up without anyone to see you.Incredibly difficult to deal with the way you’re treated by this business.

Dr. Eisenberg is very thorough. In evaluating a patient she explores all possibilities, and listens to patients symptoms, concerns, and needs. Thanks to her ordering several radiological exams, I found out that I have a potentially serious condition I wasnt even aware of! ( And it is not even of the urinary tract!) Now, I have discussed this with my primary care doctor, and have been referred to a specialist... Without Dr. Eisenberg, I would not been aware of this until it became problematic - now I can get treatment. I had some concerns about invasive procedures, I have anxiety... But since nothing especially concerning was discovered regarding my kidneys or bladder through ultrasound and CT, Dr. Eisenberg ordered follow up appointments and watchful waiting - I am happy with that!

RGU has been great to have for my brothers health care. All of the staff are extremely friendly and professional. Dr Olivares is very professional yet easy to talk to and answers all of your questions. NP Georgina Reyes takes her time to explain everything and answers questions in an easy to understand manner. Very friendly staff, great customer service

To everyone one in this practice from the front to the back you guys are hands down the move caring professionals I have ever had to deal with. I could write a best selling novel and it would still not come close to describing Dr. Olivares! I am 10 hours away from him and his team and no matter what time of day it was he was ALWAYS there for me when I needed him somehow they always made it work for me. He never made me feel like I was a bother to him and always offered help to me! Dr. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for me. I will never be able to thank you enough.

This team of caregivers were prompt and very professional. DR. SPEAR read and studied my case before entering my room and knew about my medical issue. He listened to my concerns. He has a wonderful bedside manner. A true professional. He came up with a treatment plan and i began it right away. I recommend Dr. SPEAR. His staff was empathetic as well. Friendly and professional treatment from receptionist up to doctor Tabor (not skipping Brian), but what’s unbelievable is the doctor walks in your room on time, no waiting for hours like with other doctors PLUS the doctor is calm, never in a hurry giving you all the time you need.I have been a patient for 20+ years with the same results.

Had an appointment at 1:45, got there 15 minutes before my CT Scan appointment. Wasn’t called in till after I got up to see how much longer, been waiting an hour already. For them to tell me they had a procedure that took a little long with a person who had an appointment after mine. But of course be careful who you complain to because once called in, all eyes are on you. Didn’t have the common courtesy to either asked if I would mind waiting or reschedule. After the 10 minute procedure, I was able to speak with a manager but as I was speaking with him he didn’t even know what to say. Was my time not important? Wasn’t even busy, but the gossip must have been good, especially when I left. Be careful when you complain about the service you receive might make the front page!!!!! Unacceptable. This was the west side office.

He tells me in laymen terms what afflictions I have and how they should be treated. There is never a very long wait which is rare for doctors offices in El Paso. Doctors are very attentive and kind. Glad I found this place. Definitely recommend. Dr. Eisenberg is phenomenal.

Website says walk-ins and same day appointments are available which is not true. I was referred due to a painful kidney stone I could not pass. Earliest available appointment was one week. I could not wait in pain that long so I found a place that could see me the next day.
